Case Crawler on CL

He's on eBay also. I know of at least three different parties who claim to have original Case factory patterns for eagles besides the guys who have the inferior reproduction patterns.

The reproductions have been slowly hitting the market since the 1980s. Eventually they will flood the market and all of them will be worthless or affordable depending on which side of the fence you're on.

I agree but the originals that are out there change hands all the time and are available. There's a couple on the internet right now for sale and a couple on upcoming auctions sales soon. Seems like three or four come up for sale every year on average.

What I'm talking about is the total number of eagles being born every year is increasing. There are guys shucking out reproductions from odd sized castings which are easy to spot as reproductions and are priced accordingly, but then there are guys like you mentioned here selling NOS eagles.

If it's from the Case factory original molds yet it's brand new, would it still be an "original" eagle? After it's painted how can one tell if an "original" is 80 years old or 8 days old? Whats that do to the value of the old ones when somebody is making new ones? That's all I'm saying.

These new eagles are going to muddy the waters when it comes to owning an authentic eagle and are bound to lower the value of all of them as a whole. I have to give the seller you mentioned here kudos for saying right up front that his eagle is a new one. But that doesn't stop the guy who buys it from turning around and advertising it as being an "old" original and asking 12K+ for it. Buyer beware. That's all I'm saying.

Same can be said for the post toppers. I bump into a guy every year at a swap meet who always brings a semi load of old rusty tractor parts. Every year he happens to have a Case eagle post topper with fresh surface rust but no patina. Every year it's a different Eagle. Every year he has the same story about how a friend of his "found it" in an iron pile. Every year he claims it's old and an original. He's sold so many eagles over the years I just wonder what kind of iron pile his friend has that keeps shucking out old original Case post toppers. There must be a bushel basket full of them in there somewhere. Yeah right. If you're going to lie to people's faces you should at least remember their face so you don't tell the same lie year after year.
