DC needs more HP

Got a DC with 4 1/16 done pistons and 5505A head. Needs more power. Can I install a 6128A head on it? Can I mill off some off of the bottom of the 5505 head? Any ideas?

Jim,

You can shave an amazing amount of material off a 5505 head and raise the compression significantly. If you do this you should also burn premium gas. As far as the 6128 propane head is concerned, it has a smaller combustion chamber for increased compression (that's how they got the LP engine to have the same HP as a gas engine) it also has tiny valves that don't allow huge flow. If you want a mild upgrade a 6128 will do. My personal opinion is you'll get more response from a heavily shave 5505. I have not shaved a 6128 much, only enough to true up.
