Stabilizers slowly creep up

My stabilizers and my loader hydralic rams slowly creep up when I am operating my hoe. I suspect the packing in them needs attention? I suspect that's the first place to check for wear and tear?

There is no external leaks and stabilizers will hold for 10-15 minutes before I have to push them down again. Loader bucketarms will slowly come up too. No external leaks and machine has lots of pressure it seems to dig etc.

I have a detailed service manual. Just not sure what to inspect first.

It's either leaking past the cylinder packing or your valve is leaking. You can test the cylinders by plugging the lines and applying presure. If they still move its the cylinder, if not it's likely the valve.

someone has been messing with relief valves would be my first guess, seen this before trying going through the books instructions on setting both the loader valve and the backhoe, they may have done damage though as well

I have a great service manual so I can check the relief valves and pressure specs. I figured plugging a cylinder would be quick easy test too. Thank you guys. I hope to test it over the next few months and I'll update my findings.

Today I put my stabilizers down and loader bucket down at operating rpm for backhoe operation. The stabilizer on left side very slowly retracts until tire is on ground. I suspect packing is leaking till pressure is equal on both sides of packing. I also noticed the loader bucket cylinders very very slowly retract until front tires touch ground. There's is also evidence of oil leakage past seals on cylinder rams. I thinking the cylinders for loader bucket and stabilizers need new packing\seals.

I recently tested my woodsplitter cylinder by disconnecting a line. Oil was bypassing piston packing and sure enough packing was very deteriorated. Parts fellow sent piston and cylinder end plug away to hydraulic shop and I received correct packing. I figure do same test on stabilizer once I have backhoe tractor differential repair finished.

Don't forget to do a good borescope exam, pits are your enemy here. I usually put a cylinder hone with fine stones on a drill bit extension (or two) to hone these. Only works for very small pits though.
