Our annual tractor cruise is next Saturday. Going to drive the DC. I think she is ready to go. Here is run down of everything done to it.
Valve guides, new valves, valve cover gasket, new plugs, points, wires, condensor, flushed radiator, new gauges, engine oil, filter, transmission fluid, hydraulic fluid and filter, various gaskets, new seat springs and brackets, and new light bulbs. I think that is it. Runs real good now. Thanks to everyone here for the advice as we worked through things. Here are some pics.

Good looking steed you have there. Pastor John got me hooked on tractor rides a few years back. There are a few here in Virginia this year, but not as large as the Great Iowa tractor ride. Three days of running around the Mason City area. I was raised in North West Illinois{Whiteside Co.} Watch the shoulders of the roads if you have to pull off. We almost lost a couple last year. The good Lord was watching over them. RIDE SAFE.

I went on a short ride today at Lewistown, MT. We had 18 tractors, 8 IH, 3 Case, 2 of those ugly green things, 1 Oliver, 1 Minnie, 1 Massey-Harris, 1 Ford, and 1 Empire. I took my 1949 S.

(quoted from post at 22:02:54 06/08/14) agonair, is the tractor cruise located near tuscola? Any info online?. thanks john

There is a cruise a little further east at the end of July if you are interested, just search for Bi-County Classic Tractor Cruise. I'm not sure of the route this year, but it will most likely be through Clark County. It is a 3 day cruise and good times.

Nice looking DC. It will represent Case well on the tractor ride. Thanks for including the dealer decal. Don

The 5th Annual Amish Country Tractor Cruise will be Saturday, June 14th. We depart Arthur from Yoder"s Kitchen at 8:00 a.m. for a 50 mile cruise to Tuscola. $25.00 fee includes lunch. Arrive back to Arthur at 3:30 p.m.

Yes...the tires on the DC are road worn.

The fuel is refilled at the end of each day and handled by the organizers. There are two speed groups, the Ford would fit in just fine with the slow group, they average around 9mph. There are usually at least one Ford 8N/9N in the group, along with AC WD/WD45's, so don't worry about the speed.

Beautiful tractor. I'm in the process of restoring a 1953 Case DC myself. I'm having quite the time with the seat assembly. I think i may be missing some parts. Is there any way you can post some pictures showing the seat spring from different angles?

Thanks!

dclean I'm also restoring a 1953 D.C., had some issues with the seat myself, got a semi correct seat coming thanks to another member, hit me with questions if ya got em. Dusty

Dusty, thanks for the offer. after spending hours on line, it seems as though there may be 2 types of seat. one with a spring and one without. Not sure if the seat on my DC is correct for that year or not. Maybe i do have all the parts after all. I'll likely have to wait till all the snow melts to get a better look.

you are correct there are at least two types of seat, three i can personally attest for, late forties w/o live power had dual coil spring seat, all parts are diff, Mabel pan fits, 51,52 ish you could get the dual coil spring seat with live pto, then 52 and a half I been told for DC and SC got rubber torsion spring like yours and what mine should have, I don't know if you could get a dual coil spring type with foot throttle, mine was w/o seat completely couldn't locate a torsion seat so I got a dual coil type with live pto coming, hopefully works with foot throttle, have also been told original DCs, late 30's had leaf spring type seats, don't know much about em, love the pics, keep me posted on progress

Dusty, I don't suppose you know if the seat i have is referred to as a "Knoedler" seat? I found a site selling replacement seat bearings and they look similar (w/out having removed mine). You referred to the rubber parts as "rubber torsion springs". Am i barking up the right tree? http://www.external_link/ABC537-seat-bearing-for-knoedler-seats?&TF=EECDFAA6E8C4
