Hello - new to the forum.
I've got a 1370 we purchased last year, as a project for my 13 year old son and I to work on. We participate with it in a local Farm Stock pulling class, and are looking to make some modest improvements.
So far, all we have done is basically clean it up, re-core the rad, re-pin the front axle, etc. We put a slightly larger turbo on it (a Garret T404E14). It ran decent last season, but we are looking to be a bit more competetive. Our class turbo size is a 2.75x3, which is what we would like to run. I'd like to stick with the stock A-pump, and get it benched. We just found a set of heads off a 90 series which would allow us to run screw in injectors, perhaps even a little oversized. Obviously we need enough fuel for the air, so we'd like an idea of what would work.
As for the heads - any point in getting them worked, maybe double sprung? What about cam options? Advice is welcome.
Finally, we are running a stock clutch, but are limited to 2500 RPMs. And we will be looking to split it next year, for clutch and trans upgrades.. Right now 1st powershift and reverse are rather weak.
