I am trying to get the brakes working on my hoe and need to know the proper fluid. I am replacing both the master cylinder and the slave cylinder. I have been told it takes hyd. fluid but it had brake fluid in it. They brakes haven't worked since i had it and want to be a little safer. Any help would be appreciated,Thanks, TC

Originally, the system used transmission-hyd. fluid such as TCH or Hytran. DOT 3 Brake Fluid will eat those cyl's up.

Any Case hoe up to & including a 580C used DOT3 brake fluid. Models from the 580D onward used mineral oil.
In short - use DOT3 brake fluid.
Cheers

Are the boots and brake cups green ? those use mineral oil or hytran . If they are black , it's DOT 3 BF....

Sorry John, Off to the woodshed, The 580D series hoe was the first to use a brake oil instead of DOT3. Been retired 3 yrs now but the memories still haunt me of all the slaves and masters I have changed.
You weren't gonna slip that by alr down there in Aussie land either. Good to see you on the Case forum alr. Mel

At this very moment, I'm consulting my legal staff as to the legal liability implications that the referenced aforesaid information allegedly posted from this computer to the querry in question, may have on external_link.

LOL, I really doubt there will be any legal repercussions so you can relax a bit. Hope all is well with you and yours.
