I know I should post on the paint site ... But I figure HERE you would know what I'm talking about ..

I'm getting ready to sandblast and paint my VAIW .. my Question is will 2 gallon give me a good coat of paint ??

Remember ... I don't paint all the time so I will probably have some waste .. and I'm sure I will paint some more coats than others ...

THANKS for your advice ................. mark

I just did my DC this past summer. It took a gallon an half for 3 coats of color. If your sandblasting down to bare metal make sure you prime with a good epoxy primer. If you use a good automotive quality paint get ready to dig deep in your pocket $$$$$

Two gallons is more then enough. Think I used a little over a gallon and a half when I painted my VAIW. Good luck and will be waiting for pictures.

The amount of paint would vary depending on the paint you use and your ability. For example if you use a urethane paint it is mixed as you use it and if you mis-figure how much to mix you might mix too much and have a pint left over. With a urethane any paint left over is going to harden, you can't save it so that pint goes in the trash. Even with non-catalyzed paint if you are not experienced at spraying you might turn more into overspray than you should. Two gallons is pretty close to the amount needed to paint that tractor. It would be a good starting point but don't be surprised if you have to buy more.
