1070 Case 8 speed ?

NE Case

I'm trying to lose some weight on a 1070 8 speed open station for farm tractor pulling. I'm planning on removing the rockshaft housing and replacing it with a rockshaft delete cover. Any idea on what the rockshaft cover and internals weigh? I'm planning on removing the remote hydraulic boxes too. Can I cap the line coming out of the valve that feeds the hydraulic boxes or do I need to make a return line? And can I replace the transmission shift cover with a 1030 shift cover without any other changes? Or do I need to change the shift forks inside the transmission too? Thanks

I removed the rockshaft housing and pto housing on my 930, it took three of us to barely lift it off, I'm guessing 400lbs maybe more, pto housing by my self maybe 200lbs, here is a pic after.

I'm looking for the right step off of a open station 1070. If you have one let me know. Email is open or 402 681 9551

We bought the tractor with a Cozy Cab on it and the previous owner had a loader on it and he only had the step for the left side. Sorry I couldn't help you out. I would try Elmer's Repair in KS.

Thanks for the info. To remove the PTO housing do you just unbolt that or is there anything further in that needs to be disassembled for it to be removed? I would like to keep the PTO but if it's just unbolting and making a plate that would be easier than trying to make a lighter platform. I'm trying to get it to 7700 pounds with a narrow front end w/ 6.00-16's. I'm at 8220 with no fenders and pressed steel 9 bolt wheels w/ 20.8-38's. I haven't removed the rockshaft yet but have the hitch support w/sway blocks and 3 pt arms removed. I would like to have fenders but will probably have to make something to reduce the weight. And I still need to add weight brackets and wheelie bars and something to support the drawbar so I probably need to lose another 650-700 lbs. I was thinking of removing the platform and shifter cover and replacing the shifter cover with one off a 1030 and that way I wouldn't really need the side console just rig up a throttle lever.

111, I'm more interested in the boat in the background! What kind is it and describe it for me. Boating is my other hobby!
