I use a lithium based grease good for many things,, a water pump needs One shot of grease a year with normal use,, unless you put hundreds of hours a year on it once every five years would be enough
cnt

You buy can but water pump grease from Cartney bearing Watertown SD. I use it on my model L tractors and the others as well. On the model L
the grease is actually the seal. Looks like heavy white lithium.

Water pump grease is what you should use, as it's soluble. I have a 41 Studebaker and the waterpump has a zerk on it. The upper tank of the radiator was packed full of chassis grease when I bought the car, and it obviously, ran hot. Do not overgrease, and don't use petroleum based lubricants

OK thanks guys what I wanted to know
All my 30 series and 700 and the 400 have grease zerk on the water pump
Thanks a lot loren

I am looking at a service bulletin regarding
the LA Case water pump. It says to
lubricate with regular gun grease every 60
hours of operation.

Boxed out and in bold letters below that it
says:

IMPORTANT! DO NOT USE SPECIAL WATER PUMP
GREASE AND DO NOT LUBRICATE EXCESSIVELY!
