Splitting tractor or Splitting headache!

Im new here and really enjoy this forum. Im looking for a little advice. Recently I purchased a 1959 Case 801b loader tractor. Bought it knowing it had a locked up Diesel engine. So, I've got the engine torn down to the point I'm thinking about splitting it. My question is about the steering shaft. Do you take it apart behind the "carrier bearing" and slide it out of the front casting or am I looking at it all wrong. Also, do I need to support the torque converter from falling out after I do get it split? Thanks for your help.

Take it apart at the carrier bearing and remove it with the front tub.
You need a hoist to handle the front tub.
Torque converter will not fall out. There are retaining bolts behind the clutches.
