5130 keeps dieing

My 5130 keeps dieing... After and hour and a half of use it starts to sputter and dies.. Has done this to me on 3 difference occassions. Previous time before this it wouldnt even crank over. Had implement dealer come out and said I had a corroded connection on a solenoid. He cleaned it and it fired right up. Was using the tractor today moving hay and piddling and sure enough it has done it again. It will still crank over but not start... I let it sit for about 4 hours and went back tonight and it started but was sputtering and then cleared up so I figured I would drive it home.. Didnt make it out of the field before it died again.

Any sugguestions? Do these tractors have more than 1 fuel filter? I changed it the last time it did this and obviously didnt help. Im lost here. This is my first tractor and im trying to figure it out before I have to pay the stealership to find the issue.

Thanks

Sounds electrical so far. There is a solenoid in the pump it could be open when hot or losing power somewhere else. Get a piece of wire run direct from battery or starter solenoid to pump when it goes down. See if it runs.
If it is fuel depending on your lift pump there is in the inlet about a 100 mesh screen the size of the end of little finger it can get full of scrap if there is no pre filter before the pump. (Don't ask me how i found all this out.) Can't take it out to clean. I drilled the bolt that is tapped into the fuel filter base tapped it with pipe threads and added a gauge so I could watch fuel pressure.

they did have a issue with the fuel line getting tiny air holes and then sucking air,, I changed out at least one( replace the factory line with a rubber fuel hose with inline filter,,()tank,, if that's good it could be the transfer pump as well seen them go bad, I also seen one get picky and it had a bare spot worn on the wire going to the injection pump solenoid,, I am assuming it is not gelling up on you and you have been servicing the fuel system,, and keeping the water drained off/ fuel filters changed ect, I also highly recommend always adding a good fuel conditioner every tank some feel this is a waste, to me keeping many dozens of injection systems operating without fail for over 40 years tells me I am doing the right thing, your own call on that,, anyway a few issues I have seen with them
cnt

It looks like several of us have mentioned, more than once, the possibilities of the suction screen on the fuel pick up, rotted out fuel lines, the basics of fuel delivery, etc. Have you done anything about any of that?

i haven't tried any of these yet. It's still sitting in the field. If I can get it back home today I will start with the mesh screen and work my way around the rest of the issues that have been mentioned.

What kind of issue would I be seeing if it were the injection pump going bad?

I had issues like you described before, so did a family member. Our problem was a restriction in the fuel tank or fuel lines.

Have you checked or changed fuel filters lately.

I had some bad fuel go through my 930 diesel one time that plugged my NEW fuel filters off tighter than a pop corn fart.

I have heard of dead bugs, pieces of paper towels and horse weeds all causing fuel restriction problems. I think someone suggested a pin hole in a fuel line; All of that is possible.

I think your electric problem was a secondary issue. If you are trying to start a lifeless tractor sometimes long term cranking will expose another issue in the starting circuit, such as a weak connection.
