manifold repair

As you can see there is a large hole in the exhaust manifold. I am thinking how to make a cheap temporary repair until a better manifold can be found. I found some cold weld steel that is good to 2400 degrees and using that to attach a piece of copper over the hole. Then wrapping it header wrap. I thought about brazing it but my luck it would crack and make matters worse. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Steve

You would have to pre heat that cast piece, to even have a prayer of success. If the hole is from corrosion, I wouldn't even think about brazing. Some epoxy's are magic, if you can get it clean enough for good adherence.

Hello Steve, did you get any pictures that I sent you yesterday? When I got back home Sunday it had warmed enough to melt snow off mostly so I was able to take a couple pics of my parts tractor for you, snowed another six inches since then so I guess still winter. Did not have a picture of it but I did have a manifold that looks good except one ear is broken off the carb mount side. Run ok on my '38 I just used the better one off of the combine motor. Thanks, Mike.

I braised a steel patch onto my Case SC manifold and it has been on there for years. It was a flat surface that I patched so it was probably an easier repair than what you need to do.
