Case 830 dual range

An 830 Case is listed for sale nearby. It is a 1966 830 diesel dual range wide front row crop. I have not seen the tractor tor yet. Does dual range mean 4 spd plus hi and low ranges? Does this model have the chain drive Rear? Anything specific to this model I should be aware of? It will be subject to minimal use. Thanks. Ben

Hi Ben , a dual range is just the J.I.Case name for Hi-Lo . That tractor will not have a chain drive , and it will have 8 forward and two reverse . Also it will have a 12 gallon hy pump. Think they were supposed to be a 68 hp tractor, came with a dry clutch and power assist steering . Not the same kind of full power steering you would have on a JD. Only other thing I could think to mention , dose the tractor have a flat operators platform, which the Comfort King tractors had with the Hi-Lo shift handle on the dash ? Or the two sticks are just mounted on top of the tranny, the Comfort King model is the nicer to get on and off.

Picture shows a flat platform and one gearshift. Doesn't say comfort king, but looks in nice shape. Have to drive down and have a look. On kijiji Ontario, London. Thanks. Ben

All the 30 series tractors 730 + larger, built 65 and after were Comfort King tractors. Not counting the Traction Kings.
