Looking to buy here next couple weeks to make some money so here is my question. Guy has a 1070 case engine stuck, was told from simply sitting and not water, has good tires all the way around, power shift has about 4800 hours old guy owned it told it ran not too long ago when it was parked. My plan is to fix it up getting everything running and working properly and sell it. OR buy a 1370 already running, no rears, decent front tires, lots of weights on the front, interior needs some work, I'd plan on parting it out, or if I can find some rear hubs, tires and rims for a decent price id fix it up and sell it. Both around 5000 hours on them came from the same older gentleman, very straight not abused tractors. Thanks for any help.

mike l. ;the 1070 is a very early one. the 1370 also looks like a very early one also. call me at 309-635-1587 if you want more info on them.

Mike I admire the fact you are will to take on a project to hopefully end up making a profit. But both those units appear to have been setting for some time and no one knows what is really all wrong with them. If they are good and worth repairing it is funny they got parked in the first place. I have been fixing tractors all my life and I will tell you to go out and buy something to repair and resell to make money is tough. I have done that with a few and thank goodness I can use them on the farm to recover some of my investment. If you are good at repairing fix someones tractor where your you get paid for all your time, most my projects I have more time in them than I could ever recoup by selling them, LOL. Rod.

I've done some projects like that, and regretted it. Biggest problem is those old girls are not worth a lot, even in good shape, but the parts for a major repair are going to be just as spendy as they would for a much more valuable tractor. So its real easy to get underwater on them in a hurry. Its especially risky with non running tractors, because you won't know the extent of the problems, both in the engine and in the running gear. I'd be leery of the transmission on the 1370- what happened to the rear tires and wheels? Pretty unusual to take them off a running tractor, unless you didn't want the prospective buyer to be able to drive it.

If I was going to use it, I would consider fixing one of them. Does the one with the stuck engine have anything over the exhaust?

Not sure to be honest can't see from the pictures it was the last thing I thought of asking in the phone.

Now you guys correct me if I'm wrong but with the condition those are in even if they both walked and talked they wouldn't be worth much more than $2000 I know here they wouldn't be here. If it were me I would buy one or both park them out back wait for a real cream puff to come along with problems and fix it with those parts. I do this quite regular with a different color but it works well for me. Its always good to have parts tractors but you must start with something that worth fixing if you plan on making money.

if you have "idle" time and would not be doing anything any way. Then maybe your hourly rate of return is not a concern. Wish the best for you and the project. Saving a Case tractor is a good thing. gobble

The guy said many many people looked and wanted parts but did not want to part them out, I'd hate to do it myself. I'm out to save them I have sort of my own junkyard if you will, but I have a passion for old tractors, bought a farmall H with every intention to part it out, paid 400 for it and I got it running, and it runs exceptionally well, has high compression gas head which is worth what I paid for it, but it runs and drives needs a rear tire. Goona find a tire and sell it, I won't make much but it's better to keep it out there rather than parting it out. Same deal with these cases it's hard to decide where to draw the line. When is it just not worth it?

Mike, hope you want it bluntly, but I wouldn't walk by these units, I would run! Lots of secrets inside of them. "1370" appears to be a 1973, and could have planetaries out, the engine pan could be full of coolant, (you can crack the plug and see unless its to tilted. As others here have mentioned, "1070" could have a powershift out, major fix, they don't look like they have had good care.

I would buy them for scrap value, then do a few checks, and if they don't pan out, you can still get out of it. Personally thou, I would run!
