Question on the 70 series Case tractors

Greetings everyone,
I have a weird question for you guys. Was there ever a Case 670 tractor built? I was just curious why the numbers go from 570-1570, but no 670 tractor. Just curious I guess. Thank you.

Others can correct me if I'm wrong, but my answer in depth is that in the original 430 - 1030 line up, the 4, 5 and 630 all used the same 188 diesel with the 430 being de-tuned and the 630 being over-sped. The 630 chassis was being taxed to the max for it's horsepower when paired to the tillage and loads it was asked to do. Eventually the 730 was value priced in such a way that it wasn't much more money to get into a larger framed tractor so the dealers slowed the orders for the 630 to the point Case saw an opportunity to streamline the production. Case needing more of the 530/630 chassis for loader backhoes may also have something to do with phasing out the 630 in favor of the 730. Also the 1030 and 1200 were being conceived about that time as demand was for larger tractors instead of the small frame tractors anyway.
So to answer your question a little more straight forward, the 630 was missing from the 30 series line already before it was replaced by the 70 series. Therefore, no 670. The David Brown line eventually replaced the 4,5 and 770 initially and eventually the 870 as well.

Hi Brad,
Thank you for the info. It was very interesting to read. I am always learning more about the good ol' Case tractors. I appreciate your info sir.

No problem. I was hoping somebody else could add to this. There's always more than one opinion. It's not like I was old enough to know any of this from my own experience, just what I've read or heard when listening to others. There's people on here old enough to have lived through these times and I would thoroughly love to hear from their experiences.

Just for fun, here's some pics of what the 470s and 570s should have looked like. We didn't get them here in the US but they did make them in other countries. Wished I had one.

they were built to start with as the "new" 470/570's then the DB purchase went through so they sent them out of Country,,, if you look close at them they are a basic 580 wheel tractor,, I have seen at least three versions of them I really do not think many were made past the "what will it look like" phase but I could be wrong

I think the square front axle and the raised operators platform like the bigger 70 series is kind of cool. Lights and battery position appear to be an afterthought. Here's a look at another tractor. Different fenders on this one.
