Bittersweet

This past Sunday was a difficult one for me. I announced I
was retiring this coming summer. I'm leaving two great
congregations and that is sad but it is time.
I'm looking forward to spending time with my family and
getting around to see my Case friends.
Get your coffee pots ready!

Hi Pastor John,
Recently one of the two pastors retired also at my church here in Minnesota. He just turned 65. I know I will miss him for sure. So congratulations to you sir! I hope you can enjoy your time, and may the good Lord give you good health in your retirement! So many people that retire don't seem to have good health when they retire, which is sad I think. Good luck to you sir.

Hay,Pastor John: read your post all these years, never knew you were a Presbyterian, so am I.If you ever come to visit the Jamestown College,Jamestown North Dakota, stop in and i will furnish the coffee.

To bad you didn't live closer, I have lots of junk to show you. Understand your sadness, the Good Lord is moving you on another journey!
Those are 2 beautiful churches

Pastor John - I know your feeling, I think it is hard for anyone to face retirement no matter what the occupation. I don't know, but I think retiring from your devotion in life would be more difficult than most. The interaction and personal feelings towards your Parrishiners would make it more difficult than most. I guess one should look back and be proud of what was accomplished, who was saved, and what would have been missed if you were not there to assist. I retired with over 30 years in the military, a whole different ball game than your chosen profession, but one must still look back and feel good about what life and what a higher power gave us. Most important, enjoy my friend, enjoy. It's a long climb, but it is worth it.

Congratulations on your pending retirement. Of course a replacement must be found before you can retire. lol Well I know you have your SC, and your DC. VAC, L, C, RC will round out your herd now that you have all that time on your hands. Remember idle hands are the devil's workshop, so buy more Case tractors haha. Understand you will be at the Machine Shed Friday, save me a seat, or I can save you one. See you there. gobble

Congratulations Pastor John. You have spent your life serving God now he will open many new doors. Enjoy your family and Case tractors. If you get to the west coast look me up. I would enjoy meeting you. The coffee will be on. Steve

Just out of curiosity, are you planning to stay in our beautiful section of Iowa? (The mud this past week hasn't been very pretty, but most of the time...) Your neighbor from New Sharon - we met last summer when the tractor ride stopped at our high school. ADB

I've been through Malcom plenty of times on my way up to the sale barn at Tama or the Poweshiek Count FSA office but I guess I just haven't paid enough attention. You can't miss something in Malcom very easily.LOL Also I am going to be in Brooklyn tonight at the Manatt Community Center for a meeting of area school boards.

Just curious, will you have a replacement for you? They have been closing Catholic churches in our area of Iowa right and left. Enjoy your retirement!

Congrats!!!!! Sure wished it was my turn to do that. 5 more to early retirement. 10 to stay for all of it. CANT WAIT!!! Again congrats!!!!
