A Case memory

Back in the late 70's ( when I was about 10 ) our local Case Dealer in Newton WI had a yearly open house. I remember looking forward to these all year long. The repair shop was cleaned up and tables set up for a lunch. They showed the latest and greatest in Case machinery on the movie screen. I can still remember the narators voice. They even had a 2390 on display. WOW that was impressive for a kid. I still like 2390 's to this day. Bill

That's really cool, I wish I could have been around back then. My first Case memory / tractor memory period was around the same age but in the mid 1990's. My dad dropped me off at my grandparents on his way to work and my grandfather let me get behind the wheel of his DC with the plow hooked up (don't remember what kind or how many bottoms it had...2 maybe?) I made a couple passes down the field and got off while he chuckled and said "don't tell your father, he'll kill me."

I too remember the dealer open houses. I remember going to Watrys in Fredonia WI for their open house, Dad giving me a boost up on a new 1200. I would have been five years old in 1964 when they cane out. Brugginks in Oostburg, and Newton in later years. Good times looking at new machinery with Dad and my brother, both of them gone now.

When the 90 series came out the local Case Power and Equip. at Brookings SD put on a field day. Got to drive a 2390 and plow for a couple of rounds. Several tractors and equipment and of course..lunch! Course I'm about 30 years older than you.

Don't remember any open houses, but VanZealand implement in Kaukauana, WI was our absolute favorite place to go with Dad in the 60s.

This was long before my time. Back in the 40's The Case dealer ( Westerberg Exchange) would put on a silo filling demo. He used a Case DC on a belt powered filler. He had a square nail and would stand the nail on end on the wing of the radiator cap while the tractor was pulling the silo filler.

I have been told about this demo by several of the old retired farmers, Who have now passed. One was so impressed he bought a 48,50, and two 1952 DC's.

Dad worked in the IH dealership for 23 years before they closed it up. Every year they would have an open hose in January or February and like in previous posts they would move everything out of the shop and clean it up and would have a ham and bean lunch for all the customers. That was the only day I got to go work with Dad and see all the new stuff and have all the ham and beans a teenage boy could eat. Very fond memories.....Kenny

Dad did Case's famous fish fry's, (60's) it brought the surrounding area in to our little dealership. I would get to run uptown from school with a friend and have some French fried fish. But couldn't stay around for the program and film :(

I did many open houses, when I had my stores, served all kinds of food, but really don't remember much. Guess the best was Dad's fish frys!

Dad's C Case was impressive--especially on the belt. One time on a silage cutter fed with pitch forks, one of the bundle pitchers--probably with green blood--- said to dad who was also pitching bundles "bet I can kill that old Case". Bundles flew and the pinch roller topped out tight. The C was up to the task!!! I was a kid watching. That was one of those WOW moments.
