More DC questions

OK so yesterday I went around paying rent for this years hay ground and this older fella I been renting from for years has 2 dc case tractors in the field by a old farm stead I gave up asking about them he said he was going to get them going.
Where would I get a overhaul kit pistons sleeves rings rods mains all gaskets? Anyone know?
I was going to try Napa hedhals sturdavants tomorrow just thought I would ask pics tomorrow when I go down and look them over again.
Any ways he said if I wanted them $50 takes the pair so I bought them one is parts only the other was stuck so he pulled the head to try and free it couldn't get it and left it
Thanks loren

John Saeli and Don Livingston both sell Overhaul kits. Don has an bay store under Mr. Hainy and John's is external_link. Both frequent this site.

Main bearings on a DC engine are inserts like a modern engine, but rod bearings are poured babbit. Terry Harkin at Watertown SD use to pour babbit bearings but
have been told he retired. Don't know if anyone took over the business.

Don L. sells reconditioned ones. He will want your old ones on trade. 507-433-0073 mornings in MN. I don't think new ones are available. Don made me some for an SC last year not sure this contact info is still good for him through. If not post Don L need rod bearings for case DC rather than more DC questions
Best of luck with it Byron

NAPA won't be much help unless you are looking for a seal or bearing. Go with Don L. and John Saeli. Pour a 50/50 mixture of automatic transmission fluid and acetone in the cylinders. Might want to pull the rocker arm assembly off when trying to turn the engine over because if the valves are stuck you will bend the push rods. Jack one of the rear wheels up and put the tractor in high gear and rock the wheel back and forth every time you walk by it.

Terry Harkin sold his business, due to cancer. It was sold to George Gohlike in Stillwater MN. George is an excellent machinist with a background in early engine restoration. I know he did spend a couple of weeks in SD gleaning from Terry. Exactly where he is with the business, I don't know as I haven't built any babbit engines of late. I'm involved mostly with antique automotive stuff. As Geo has an excellent reputation in the antique engine business I sure would call him and see what he can do. Rebabbitting rods/mains are not difficult, rebabbiting insert bearings, like an SC, has some unusual fixture issues, unique to ea engine.
