Case 1490 2WD Front Axle Ball joint.

What is the different between the inner and outer "Ball joint" on the front axle on a 2WD Case 1490?

They look the same, but have different part numbers, inner: K950476 superseded with K262848
Outer: K915962 superseded with K262852.

The thing is that I can get the outer ball joint for a very good price, but not the inner. But I think I can use the same for the inner position.

Henrik, tractors don't typically use ball joints. Could you be talking about wheel bearings on the spindle?

It is called "Ball joint" in parts catalog: http://partstore.caseih.com/us/parts-search.html#epc::mr65466ar994908
Number 38 and 39.

It is also called "socket assembly ball"

No, I am not talking about the wheel bearings.

Okay the parts you are looking for are typically called tie rod ends. One of them may be of stouter build that the other or have a different / longer taper.

I also see that the parts book does indeed call one a Ball joint.

I don't have a set of those here to look at, but it sticks in my head that the threaded portion of one is shorter than the other.

One is rt hand thread and other is lft hand if what you are talking about are tie rod ends. I am assuming we are talking 2 wd frt axle.
