I talked to Tom Railsback this evening on the phone, and he asked to pass his best to all on the Case Forum. He hopes to be back up and running on the forum shortly. Hope to hear from you soon Tom. Thanks for the conversation. CM

Agree Chuck, looking forward to Tom getting back here, oh by the way Tom, I played a double b flat!

Ande, I used to play BBb but they take too much air anymore so I have switched to Eb. I actually started on Eb back in 1961 when I was an eight grader; but when I got to high school all they had were BBb horns so I played BBb through high school and college.
I majored in music and got my degree in 1970 and planned on going into the Army band program but I washed out of basic. I had some GI benefits coming so I went back to college and got into history where I picked up a second bachelor's degree and and a master's. I played all those years for the same college band director and have continued to this day. I started on Eb about 15 years ago and have progressed to the point where it's an effort to remember BBb fingerings.

I combined my two interests and wrote my M.A. thesis on Army Bands between 1865 and 1890.
