What about a 1030

On Craigslist there is a Case 1030 for sale. It looks real nice.

I pull my JD 4200 rollover plow with a 4320 with a Hinson Cab. I would like also have an open station tractor with less vibration and noise to pull my plow. This is a heavy plow, 3x18" rollover. Would the 1030 handle this well on the hills and clay of Western Wisconsin? This has to be a stable tractor as it can be a little scary plowing on steep hills and a heavy mounted plow.

Also:

I drove a 930 or 1030 for a neighbor when in high school but I don't remember much.
What can you tell me about this tractor.
Is the rear end quiet? I am trying to get away from a lot of noise and vibration.
How reliable is the drive train?
Would the hydraulics lift this plow? Sorry, I don't know the weight but the JD 4320 lifts it easily.
How comfortable is the seat? There is a chance I would put an air ride seat on it.
Other comments?

Thanks.

Paul

Well, I cannot find the link to the 1030 anymore. Also, I see it was a tractorshed link, sorry. I am assuming it was already taken down.

My questions still stand regarding a 1030. Any comments would be appreciated.

Paul

If you are looking for a Case quieter than your 4320, I would look for a Case 70 series (970 or 1070) with a cab. 930 and 1030 were good tractors for their day, but to me they were not as comfortable as a 4020 and the manual brakes and belt driven power assist steering were their weakest points. Drive one to see if you like it.

Good 4320's are somewhat collectable. You could probably trade it for a good JD 4430 for not much money, or a Case 1370 with extra money in your pocket.

There is a reason why 4320s are worth as much as 2, 3, or 4 Case 1030s. If you want something better then what you have that is Case better step up to a 70 series.

Paul I just bought a 1032 and I will say that 3x18 plow will not load the tractor , very strong machine . Mine has pto issues that I haven't started fixing yet . For the quiet part I don't think it will qualify , exhaust is loud under load and rear end does make some whines and moans , doesn't sound like a bearing but I don't know yet .

Thanks for the comments. Ya, what was I thinking. I do like the colors of the 30 Series. Paul
