David Brown 995 Hydraulic Filter Question

I have a DB 995, Serial #995/6/11092032. I am changing the internal hydraulic filter. The one in it is incased in screen mesh. The one that was sent to me by a Case manufacturer did not have the screen surrounding it. Can this one be used and if not where can I locate the one that is incased in a screen mesh.

Did you ever find an answer? I just got a 74' David brown 995 and would like to know how you made out so I can change the filter in my tractor. If you have part numbers that would be great.

The filter number is k920522. If it has the mesh on it, it is probably the original, or at least 20 something years old.

The replacement ones, even from case don't have the mesh around the outside.

You reuse the bypass valve and screen on the bottom of your old filter.

They aren't real picky on oil. The original oil it it would have been 20W-20.... Better choices in the last 40 years.

If it is milky looking you will probably need to change it a few times to get all the water out. Whatever cheap trans-hydraulic you can find will work well enough. Hytran, Hyguard, permatran, etc.
