How much hp have you guys been able to get out of a stock 1170 ? I am not tractor pulling and the only modification made is a larger turbo. Can I get 180 out of it with stock 9mm pump and injector lines or do I need bigger pump and lines? Any advice would be appreciated. Paul

You probably want much more but my 1170 is set at 150 hp. Used only for farming. I turned the fuel screw while it was on a dyno in 1980. No ballast in the tires but does have factory duals. Never runs hot or uses oil...had it painted white when I bought in 79.

You might be able to get that HP, but if the tractor is going to get worked hard the smaller diameter crank used in 1170's liked to pound out the center main after many hrs. Also piston lubing and cooling was less on those engines and scoring pistons can occur very easy when pulled at that HP. If you need 180 HP a 1370 would be the better choice. Rod.

Rod, it will not be a regular hard used field tractor, I have two 275 Magnums for that. The tractor will have light use except for an occasional plow day when it will be hooked to a JR 6-16 plow. I don't want to be embarrassed !!!

If you have put on bigger 3lm charger and turned the fuel screw up a little you
will not be embarrassed. Used to run dad's 1175 pulling 6-16s along side 4440s and 1066s. They all
wished they could run with the 1170.
