I'm working on a dc4 and the left drive chain separated I have the steering/shift assembly off but I need the rear housing off how do I get the pto to separate in the front by the drive gear? Thanks

Did you remove the castle nut from inside the clutch housing? Once the nut is off, the shaft should pull out the back of the cover. You might need to help it along with a hammer...

Mathias has it right if it is an older DC. If it is new enough to have live PTO it will be different.

If its a late model 5600000 and up live pto pull the clutch covers access panels and remove one bolt out of the -1 support remove support, pull -1 cover off and then pull off -1 snap ring. here's a link parts you need to remove are on the right side of the picture You also have to pull the top cover then 9102AB -1 snap ring has to come off to allow the shaft to come out of the front gear 09017AB-1 See link below some early models are similar but Is always more helpful to say what year model tractor your working on.

scratch this part of the explanation no need to remove this snap ring my mistake for late model anyway when you pull the shaft out the gear will slide out of the bearing and the gear will come off. (9102AB -1 snap ring has to come off to allow the shaft to come out of the front gear 09017AB-1)
