Case 900 starter

I have a starter from a 970 that needs rebuilt for a farm spare, and I have a 900 that I purchased with no starter at all. Does anyone know if the 970 starter would work on the 900? Would the gears mesh correctly? I haven't tried to bolt it up or even dig it out of the shed yet - hoping someone might know before I bother.

My guess is that it will bolt up, but the 900 uses a 137 tooth gear while the 970 uses a 139 tooth gear. If the Bendix drives both have the same number of teeth, it should work, otherwise not. Assume your 900 is a diesel? A '30 Series starter will work.

I have 970 starters on my 830's and 930. The gears need to be changed out, and you need to make sure it is a starter for a power shift so it has the seal in it for the wet clutch that is in the 900. Not a big job to change the gear, just takes a little time and common sense.
