That's got to be a Red Ryder................As a kid in the late 40s that (well maybe right behind the Lionel train set) was THE deal to dream about, and study in the Christmas displays in the store windows. I think I'm dating myself!

Be safe. I was just out feeding cows and just about slipped on the walk in front of my house. The roads can't be much better. Merry Christmas to you Steve and everyone here on YT. May Santa be good to all of you this year!

Always wanted a BB gun. Dad always said no. There were 6 boys in my family and we all learned to shoot a .22 at a fairly young age. Dad said we wouldn't have enough respect for firearms if we started with a BB gun.

Maybe he was right. A friend of mine and his cousin would chase each other around the farm and shoot at each other with BB guns. The part they didn't tell is they were probably wearing their carhartts. Another kid in town did get a shot in the eye from his brother. Blind in one eye to this day.

In the picture I noticed the drum and tool set also, but I'm wondering where he got the little Case steamer setting on the window sill? That's the Christmas present I wanted!

Thanks Dan. I had it framed and it hangs by my fireplace during the Christmas season. Funny how some things never change as our gifts from Santa leaned to the more "practical" side after some of those tough farming years, and a few more "toys" on the good years.
It is a reminder to me to appreciate how hard Mom and Dad worked to make Christmas wonderful each year for nine kids and to appreciate family more than the gifts.

Thanks Paul,
We're supposed to get 30 mph winds from the north west today with gusts of 40-45.
Wishing I was living amongst the tall trees today with you and Karen. Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Yes Brad, I think many could relate to your statement. As Mom & Dad were telling me once, yes we would try to pay all the bills at the dealership, then both of them would go over to the hardware store and each of us would get a gift. Sometimes it was grand, you know maybe 20.00 apiece, but other times not that much. No internet, no running to other towns ,shop local see the smiles of your local businesses as you kept your buying at home
