Looking through some of my Dads things

Although you never forget them and yes my Dad has been gone for 15 years, but I still feel him around me. Here was a calculator he had, and with his own #s of money I bet one of us owed him! HeHe. He was very generous, but there were times he expected you to pay him back. And we did.
Kinda fun to find these things

Ande,
That is cool to see. This brings back memories of a late neighbor of mine who dided suddenly a few years ago. I farmed linefence to linefence with him. He died in March of nasty cancer. The family did not farm so the machinery was auctioned off the next summer. I would help him when needed. I sat in a tractor he bought before he died that he never got to use in the field. I found the same kind of paperwork such as you have. My neighbor had calculated the price he got for his last corn and soybean crop on paper along with his yields for that year. I guess he was trying to see if he could afford his new to him tractor. I hope the family kept these papers from that tractor cab too. I miss him also. Hes was a great farmer/neighbor to me.

Boy do I know that feeling. Dad'll be gone three months today.

Going though his stuff to find all the bills and stuff, found reams of little notes like that. I remember him and I talking about nearly every single one.

Dan it is good we can pull up some memories with items of our Dads. My Dad has been gone for a little over a year and not hardly a day goes by that something I do or use reminds me of him. Rod.

Ande, My dad has been gone since 2002 and like you and everyone else I still feel he is watching me. An most of all telling me to put the tools away they do not belong out side. Then there is a wrench my father in law gave me with his mane on it, Wilson and I tell my helpers Wilson does not leave the shop. Our parents leave a mark on us that we will always cherish.

Dan,

Finding that calculator and handwritten figures brought you back in touch with you Dad. I'm fairly certain that you are a Case man because your Dad was one, same as me. He was so proud of his D that he bought new in 1954. Been gone 34 years now but I still quote him often. Keep that calculator close. Don

My dad died in 1967, I still have and use most of his tools. Every time I use them I think of him and wonder if he is watching me. Hope it makes him proud. I gave each of my boys a pair of his CeeTee pliers, they keep in their tool boxes but never use.

Ande:

Your photo sure brought back a flood of memories. Mom passed in 2001 & we buried her on my Dad's 91st Birthday; Dad passed a year later, the day after his 92nd Birthday (He died of a "broken heart" - He & Mom had been married for 58 years) . The thing that really caught my attention though was the DATE at the top of the calculator notepad - MY 50th Birthday. Dad & Mom had driven nearly 400 miles to be with me on my birthday (First born child) . Second Wife (She's gone now too, as are ALL of my children) & I took them out to Dinner at the restaurant at our local Winery, and then enjoyed a Show in the outdoor Amphitheatre at the Winery. A great time was had by all.

Sure do miss them ALL.

After reading all the post on this, I can see how my words touched others, yes I feel the same. My Dad would always tell me, slow down Dan, think ( I was always in a hurry to do things) it seems now I do slow down and do each task, with him on my mind.

Thanks you guys, your thoughts to me were all special...
