The 226 cleans up near and in front of the buildings, then the 2470 can handle the rest. Rod.

Rod,

Being inside while throwing snow takes all the fun out of it, no snow in the face, no frozen ears and fingers. LOL Don

Don I know all about the snow in your face thing. Done that for 20 yrs, first with a SC and 5 ft blower, then a 730 with a 6 ft blower. Man was I tuff back then. The 2470 really takes most of the pain out of blowing snow. It has earned that job on this farm. Rod.

Great looking team Rod,, and a wise choice on the 450 they are Cold to run in the winter with no cab, my 580 gets a lot of the snow removal work unless it gets really deep lol

Great looking crew you have working for you there Rod. There is something about the 2470 on the snowblower that I really like. I often wonder why people now days use all these expensive front wheel assist tractors to blow snow? I would think that the 2470 would be great for that job with the single wheels and good view from the cab, not to mention the traction you have. Thes good ol' 4 wheel drive are inexpensive now days and would be less costly, of course if they are properly maintained. Just some of my thoughts. Thank you for sharing the pics. Merry Christmas to you and your family sir.

Tom you do a nice job with the 580 and 450. If I used the 450 I would have everything tore up from all the turning required in in our goofy not straight anywhere driveway. Rod.

Kurt I know some people think I am nuts for using the 2470, but damn it works good for that job. Even if I can not use it in the field I will keep it for snow removal. Heck it cost less the the 870 gasser I had been using. Rod.

How do you like the power shift on the snow blower? I tried using my 2090 PS and hated it. Reverse was to fast and forward was to slow. I went back to using the 8 speed 970 using low range. The speeds are just right for an 8" to 12" snow like we have been getting.

Darrel the PS works great, I am only running the tractor at 1300 rpm. 540 blower on a 1000 rpm pto. That really slows down rev. Then to drive ahead I just slip it up into 4th leaving the throttle alone. Tractor dynoed around 230, unlike those with green paint she has guts yet at 1300 rpm, I love it. Rod.

Rod back in 2000 I took the duals off my 4494 and put a 8 foot Wildcat on back. Thought with the crab steering would be a great set up. Started down a mile section line and started heating up the hydraulic oil. Was told something about this took oil away from clutch pack, running in reverse that long. Assman Imp. sold me the 4494 then got to sell me a Case IH 8930 with loader. Next tractor was green.
Was I told correct?

The warning for those tractors was do not leave in Rev when
doing Stationary Pto work. Run in Rev causes the clutch pack
to spin fast enough that it slings off lube oil. The long time
frame when doing Stationary Pto work would cause the clutch
to get dry and hot. Snowblower work normally is driving short
distances in Rev. I have never seen a PS damaged from
snowblower work, I would think it would take several miles of
full throttle continuous Rev to harm anything. Rod.

Rod,

The worst I can remember is laying in the snow feeding a new apron chain into a manure spreader when it was about -10 with the wind blowing out of the Northwest. I don't know how I would possibly do that now. It's amazing what you will do to try to make a living. Don
