Engine Case 1394 / 1494

Hello!
What is the different between the engine on Case 1394 and 1494?
Is it possible to mount a engine from a Case 1394 on a Case 1494 tractor?

According to some parts catalogs, the cylinder liners are the same, but not the pistons, the crankshaft, block, rods or bearings.

I have also heard that some of these engines have replaceable cylinder liners, and some has not. Is that true?
And if so, how can I know if it has replaceable cylinder liners before opening the engine?

None have replaceable liners as designed. Some engine kit sellers offer a kit with "repair liners" in them which are nothing other than a piece of iron pipe that a skilled machinist might be able to install into a badly worn bore to bring it back to standard. I did a 1200 with 12,000+ hours a few years ago, it bored out clean to .040", by the time you need those liners the rest of the tractor would be completely worn out

One engine will bolt in place of the other. 1494 takes a longer oil pump, so you will need to use a 1494 oil pump.

Ok, thanks!
Would it be possible to use the frame under the engine from a 1394, and then also use the engine oil pump from the 1394, on a 1494 tractor?
And will the upper clutch housing fit both engines and both tractors?

If the tractor is about 5000 hours, then you guess that there are no need for new liners?

Frame under engine is different. It won't bolt in. That is the reason for the longer pump. Not sure on the clutch cover.

At 5000 hours it might be fine, or it could be totally worn out. depends on care and usage.
