Case 440 tractor

I have a Case 440 serial # 8200037 that is for sale. Someone contacted me and told me that there were only 25 of these made.....Is that true and if so, is the $1500 that I am asking for it too low??

a whole lot more of them made than 25, a 440 is not rare at all your price seems in line to me

Well there were certinaly far more of them made than you were told. The 440's were very popular hiway mower tractors and delivered to municipalities as bid tractors by the hundreds. I have two of them here. Pic is of my late model one like yours. older ones had a fixed I beam front axle with power assisted steering rather than hydrostatic like yours.
The hood and grafics on your tractor is totally wrong, should be a one peice hood with black stripes. You have nothing special, and infact incorrect sheet metal, but as Bro said your asking price is not out of line, if it is mechanicly sound.
It sure is NOT a rare Case tractor.
