Black Knight what year ???

I looked at what I'm told used to be a 870 Black Knight. But the original owner had it painted Desert Sunset & Flambeau Red because he didn't like the colors of the Black Knight. The second owner has it for sale & told me this story. It was is in a fairly dark shed & the only light I had was the flashlight on my smart phone. I ran the serial # & it is a 1971. Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't Black Knights 1971 & Golden Demonstrators 1972. Maybe I found something. I'm going to go back with more light & see if I can find any signs of Black up under the hood or on the inside of the fenders. It started right up & sounded great & I couldn't find a oil leak on it anywhere. Just to much junk in front of the door to back it outside to get a good look. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Thanks Nutty. Hopefully I can get this one outside tomorrow & find traces or paint or something to identify it as a original Black Knight. If I can find any evidence that it is a true Black Knight I will keep the original hoods as is & store them in my shop & find a good set of used hoods & repaint them back to original. Thanks again for the info.

No I haven't called for a build card but I looked up the serial # on the left side of this page & it falls about mid year 1971
