Tachometer

I would like to check the RPM on my tractors and would like to take it off the belt pulley shaft.
I remember my Dad had a small one you could just hold against the end of a rotating shaft (tach had a tapered rubber nose on it) and take your reading.
I'm assuming a parts store or online are my best choices.
Anyway what are some budget wise models?

GOOGLE "optical tachometer". Much safer and easier to use. Probably more accurate, as well.

Looks like the laser options are cheaper than the contact ones anyways.
