Literally saved from the iron pile

The old man want to auction yesterday with some case tractors and parts on it. Auctioneer asked if anyone want anything from the iron pile. Dad points to a 39 DC and came home with it. It needs A LOT of work but we always wanted an early DC. Thought all DCs came with starter from factory, but not this one. Also has early gauges.

Boy oh boy, that is a project tractor if I ever saw one. Happy wrenching, oiling, beating, whatever it takes. Don't know if it was a great save, but it is a save. gobble

boy oh boy,

Good save! I can't believe the bottom of the dash is still on that tractor! Like said earlier they are almost always missing!

Looks like you have all the important stuff there except for the front wheels and fenders. Everything else can come from a doner DC tractor.

No, the electric start was merely an option. Had a 39 D without electrical. It is also the main reason why you gauge dash is still intact. The battery mounted above it is where the destructive corrosion came from.

Great Save !!! I have always thought it would be nice to have a late CC and early DC to show the similarities. Nick

Very nice save! A 39 is a great find. I would love to try piecing one back together. I could never afford to.

If that gas tank is original it is a gas tractor. Most were dual fuel in 39. Please post the SN. Mine is an early 3 speed tractor, and I notice a lot of small things are different than mine.

Have a cc that has the correct front solid hubs but also got the rear axle from an sp12, that looks the same but more bolts on the hub. Serial number is 4303754 and as far as I can tell everything left is original. Pulled brake covers and they look like new inside. I am going to keep the dash but add starter and side mount battery. Will post pictures as I work on it. But that's a few years out. Got three or four tractors in line before it. The picture shows the tag on the tool box under the seat and it matches the block.
