611b exhaust manifold and muffler glowing

I have a case 1958 611b the exhaust is glowing but I've only noticed it at night. I wasn't working it hard when it happened. I just don't want to damage the motor.

all 611B's are gas or LP,,, unless your timing is a bit off I have seen them glow for sure at night

Be sure and check the total advance, revved up a bit, not just static............

i assume its running rich because when i shut it off it backfires out the exhaust when i shut it down, but only when its hot. i was running it last night and noticed frost where the carb mounts. it was 33f last night

i haven't checked the timing yet. i guess i aut to do that next.

You are running way too lean. The burn is carrying is
carrying over in the exhaust. Lean is hot, rich is cool.

I must have an intake leak then. I have the needles on the carb all the way out.

Found the problem. The fuel pickup was plugged at the bottom of the fuel tank. Dam rust.
