1950 DC Head Update

Put the valve cover back on after I replaced the broken valve spring. I decided to change the oil and cleaned out the oil pan. I drove it to the local car wash and it cleaned up pretty good. I noticed after driving it for more than an hour it stated to smoke more than it had. I used some penetrating oil and a little Marvel Mystery oil on the valve springs and I'm guessing that might have something to do with it.
My next step is to hook up to something and work it hard. That sounds like a spring project.
I want to thank all you guys for the wealth of information you passed on to me. I got a real kick out of changing that broken spring and learning something new.
I will pass on something you will get a laugh out of....used nylon rope to fill the piston chamber ( to hold up the valve while I removed to spring) after I replaced the spring the rope was stuck in the spark plug hole. I have to admit I was in a panick until it dawned on me that the rope was probably caught between the valve and valve seat. Sure enough I compressed the spring and it came right out.
You know if I were a Boy Scout i would have eared a merit badge!
Also thanks to Bill Sankott for the valve spring it was much appreciated!

A very nice looking " DC ". Wondering who put on the 'updated ' steering arm. Was your DC ever under a picker? When I mounted a New Idea picker on my DC that style steering arm came with the picker. The strate arm would not work. The very late DC s had the ' bent arm as regular equpt.clint

Don it's running better but not 100%
I need to check the timing and adjust the carb a little.
I dumped a bottle of sea foam in the gas and I'm getting a lot of smoke, not sure if that's why or whether I have other issues.
It seems strong enough to take a load so I'm going to find something heavy to drag around.
Process of elimination I guess.

I was told that this 1950 came from the factory with the wrap around arm for pickers.
I'm really proud of the way Case roast steering systems were designed. They really are misunderstood. I would much rather steer one of those over rough plowed ground verses Dad''s Super M.
You only tore out a fence line once. Then you learned! He He
