I need help I'm a young farmer I just purchased my grandfathers farm and all his equipment the little 2wd David brown loader tractor was a great running tractor but it just couldn't do what I needed I purchased a 1990 5130 loader tractor with 4x4 and a cab I thought I was in heaven heat,a/c radio until today my dad was discing a field we had sprayed when it just stalled we changed the easy things like fuel filters fuel primer pump still it just rolled and rolled no firing I realized no fuel was going past primer pump to my horror I realized the cam shaft wasn't rolling when I rolled it over I took off the cover plate over the front gears and they r rolling so am I dealing with a broken cam shaft ? Or could it b something easier ? What am I infor please help .
It's a 5.9 Cummins [/b]

In the Dodge pick-ups you need twelve dowels to wedge down in the lifters (after the pushrods are removed) and hold them up to get the cam to slide out the front. The lifters have a large base and will not come out with cam in place. Or turn the engine upside down.

A broken cam is usually caused by warn cam bearings. Check the bearings before you simply slip a different cam in the old bearings. How many hours? Question for others... Do the tractor engines have the same problem with the unsecured lining pin under the timing cover that the Dodge pickups have?

the tractor has high hrs 13000 I was told theses engines r rocks so that didn't worry me cause the tractor was in such good shape guess I was wrong , I've heard that they have a pin that could fall out in the front gear it could b really bad or u can get really lucky and it could fall into the pan and not destroy the engine with bent valves and such I'm crossing my fingers thanks for info guys
