I have been going through the DC (electrical, timing, fluids) and I would like to pull the valve cover to check out the rocker arms, valves, and springs. The engine is running a bit rough. What are some of the things I should be looking for? Thanks

Well I'm kind going through that right now with an S , I have 1 stuck vale in th e down position but the old girl still runs on 3 cyls. . May pull the head off in the spring to fix it right .

Pastor John,

If you don't run enough rocker arm clearance it is possible to burn a valve, especially with unleaded gas. That would give you an unexplained miss. Don

Make sure the valve retainers are not sunk into the washers. The valve retainer washers will hit on the rocker arms when these get bad enough.

black,
I have freed stck valves with a socket and prybar. If you have a helper they can smack the valve down while you pry/pop it back up. I have a home made brass hammer I use.
I like kroil at first and switch to marvel mystery oil once its feed up. Nick

You mentioned electrical so I assume you have been thru the ignition system. Problems with the fuel system could include intake manifold gaskets, intake manifold, air cleaner, carb, and fuel to carb. The carb can have many different problems. Define running a little rough. When idling? High idle? When pulling?

Problems with compression include a burnt valve or one with a carbon deposit at the valve seat also piston problems also cam shaft with lobe worn down.
