My case 320 industrial with loader and backhoe has a leaking rear axle seal. I of course will remove the backhoe , left rear wheel, and the differencial cover. is the axle secured by a nut and cotter pin inside the differential? removal of axle housing is necessary..
Would like to steps any of you have taken to replace a rear axle seal on a case 1957 indsustrial wheel tractor

I do not remove the hoes,, it works Very good for holding it up to remove the wheel, I drain the rear end, after blocking it up so it can't fall or leak down, remove the seat, rear cover plate on the rear end, then remove the axle nut and use washers or a pry bar to push the axle out of the gear / bearings ect yours may have a inside seal that is bad,, should have since its a flanged axle,, if so the bull gear needs to come out so you can replace it as well as the outer one, I have also R&R the axle housing at this point as well,, you can remove the hoe if you like but its not necessary,,,

Case Nutty,
Thanks for the information. I didn't realize there might be an internal seal in addition to the outer seal

Joe,
Thanks for the exploded parts diagram. I see the two seals. Do you have a Case 320 Industrial? I found the backhoe for mine at County Line Equipment years ago. Rebuilt it and adapted a 12 inch bucket.

I also live in the state of Washington

Case Nutty,
I'll check. We have had the 320 on a piece of property we just sold. Seal has been leaking for some time. Not bad but I would like to fix it. Moved the case to the place where I have a small shop and proper tools for working on the tractor. Do you have a case 320 or a tractor like it? I think case used a regular farm tractor for building the 320 industrial

you are correct the 320 is based on the 300B tractor,, I do not have any 300 series here yet but I do have its big brother a 420B, I also have a 580CK

Joe,
The tractor part of my 320 is 320
The backhoe is a 311, Had a bad back wheel on my 320
It is a 6 hole pattern. Found one in a tractor
wrecking yard in the mid west. Most parts available

I have an Arps hoe and Davis loader on the 311B. I bought several things from County Line in Tacoma probably 15 years ago. Used to buy all my dealer parts from Jennings Equipment in Puyallup years ago when he was a Case dealer. I only just fix my own equipment now, getting too old.

Joe,
Nice looking tractor.I also used to buy parts from Jennings Eq in Puyallup when they were an IHC dealer. Think they are a Kubota dealer now if they are still in business.
County Line has been a good source of parts for the crawler tractors I had. Have one TD6 left, sold 2. Selling my HD 6 AC next Friday.
Have purchased parts for my 320 from western power and equipment in Auburn. ( I think they were/are in Auburn. Had to buy a new crankshaft for my 320 from western power and equipment. Most of parts for my tractors come from yesterdays tractors.
