Do you guys know if any of the 870s had to two shaft set up for the pto and powershift or where they all one shaft that drove everything? The reason I am asking would it be possible to switch it over if you had a donor tractor. Would the back end of a late model 970 bolt up to the 336?Prob would have to change the flywheel don't know if the 401 flywheel would work on the 336!

I know of several factory white 870's in my area. I have never done any powershift repairs to either of those tractors yet but I bet they have the two shafts. One could confirm this by checking a late 870 parts book. Converting a single shaft to the double would be quite a job. The back end of a 970 will bolt up to a 336 but lots of mods would have to be done to hood and platform as CASE never used those parts together. There is a lot of difference between hood and platforms on 8 and 970's. Rod.

Rod, I don't believe they ever made the two shaft version in an 870. The two shaft type does not appear in the latest sn range 870. Whether the later pto/ pump shaft hardware is compatible with the 870 crank is an area of uncertainty to me. The flywheel would fit, the crank and tension spring and thrust are my concerns.
