Hi. Rebuilding a power shift on my 870. got all the parts from John Saeli. ( what a treat to deal with John ) Mechanic has it back together and running, BUT if I understand him right, he doesn't have to put the clutch in to put it in reverse and C4 doesn't have any pressure. Are these two related? any ideas? Tough to find anyone who has worked on these around here

Sounds like a pressure issue not holding the lockout spool for reverse' c4 should only have pressure with the clutch pedal down or in reverse.

If the control valve was off the tractor it is possible the selector spool was hooked back up with it turned 180 degrees off from it's correct position. The selector spool is the one hooked to the shift lever and has a notch in it for the reverse lock out spool to catch on, with it 180 off you can shift it into rev without pushing clutch, Rod.
