1570 hydraulic leak

Got a 1570 at work that needs to go on an auger this week. It's leaking hydraulic fluid at the bell housing. Is there supposed to be a gasket there? Because there is. I suppose this won't be an easy fix, as in the motor will have to come out, won't it?

Bite the bullet when you can give the tractor some down time. the bellhousing IS a wet area and requires a good gasket. there may be deeper problems.

Make sure all the bolts around the housing are tight. If you can find the area where it's leaking, you might be able to clean it really well and coat the area with silicone gasket maker. It might get you by temporarlly.

The boss called Case, "oh yeah there's a gasket kit for that but we only have one gasket. Holdredge has the other."

He went to get that one and some bolts for duals, and they had the entire kit.

Got it together finally. And it still leaks. But not like it did.

Whose bright idea was it to seal the oil pan and transmission with 3 gaskets all held tight by one chunk of cast iron, held on by 2 rows of bolts that are perpendicular to each other?

We're hoping that with the duals, it will be able to pull the auger in the corn pile unassisted.

All the surfaces must be cleaned up with brake cleaner and carb cleaner, then sealed up with silicone sealer. Gaskets alone will leak in the corners, and any oil on the surfaces will cause the silicone to leak.

If it leaks around the vertical bolts in the half moon plate (which are cranky about sealing) I have remove and goobered them with RTV to get sealed. Tom

Well, it leaks just as bad as it did.

Tried using grey rtv first, but the oil in the bell housing drained across it, right into my face, as I lifted the cover into place. The gasket was wet by the time I got the horizontal bolt holes lined up. Just couldn't get enough oil mopped out to get things in dry.

It's been sitting a year or two, by the time it got to the ethanol plant, it also was running oil out in the cab and popped a power steering line out under the motor.
