Can a TSX 804 carb be used on a Case VAC? (or be modified to be used?)I tried it but the tractor wouldn't run unless the choke was almost completely closed.
Thanks
Dave

Sounds like you have a fuel problem and lack of fuel to the carb or to the engine. I would start by pulling the carb drain plug and make sure you have a good steady flow of gas that will fill a pint jar in under 3 minutes.

If you have that and if it has an adjustable main jet try opening it up. If you can open it up all the way and still run you have a main jet circuit that is clogged. Doing that only works on carbs that have the down pointing main jet adjustment

Thanks for the replies.
I did intend to rebuild the carb as soon as I was sure that the TSX 804 was suitable for this tractor. The research I've done does seems to indicate that this carb was not intended for the VA. I take it that you believe that it will work after a rebuild?
Thanks again.

M/S come in basically 4 different sizes. Small medium large and extra large. The big thing is the main jet and it being big enough to supply the engine with fuel. Not sure what a TSX804 should fit so can not help much as for it is is big enough or not. But I can say this. I took a M/S carb off a Oliver 60 and then took parts form a carb of a 8N and used parts of the two to make one good carb and put it back on the 60 engine and it ran just fine.

By the way if you have a local O'Reilly's auto parts they sell a Walker brand carb kit for around $20 that will work just fine on that carb
