Fellow has both for sale similar shape same price. Toying with the idea to purchase one. Both are diesel, 830 is a dual drive, 1966, 930 is a 1970. If purchased, they won't be farming, other than some fun Plowing etc. Any specific plusses/minuses for either tractor? Not too knowledgeable on these models, any info is good info. Thanks, Ben

That's a tough choice. Both really good tractors.I would ask which one had the most resent major work done to it.I would lean to the 930 because of more horse power and they seem to be more popular here in Nebraska.

Ben , go for the 930 . The 930 is rated at 85hp compared to the 65 of the 830 . and if the 930 is a late model it will have a spin on oil filter too.The 930 will also have a nicer operators platform than the 66 model 830. I really enjoy both my 9-1030 tractors , and that big 6 cylinder engine sounds great too. My 930 is a 67 model , with the oil bath air intake , while my 1030 has a dry type air cleaner . Just one more thing to look at . Bruce

If my memory proves me right, the last "930"s were 1969.

I love the "930" personally, but that's just me.

I'm assuming when you say dual drive you mean 8 speed transmissions,, the "930" only came that way.
The "830" had dual drive or transmission also, but also came with "Caseomatic" as a option. Hope I got that right.

Owner claims both have rebuilt engines within 1000 hours . 830 looks a lot cleaner than the 930, both have good rubber 18 x 34 good tin, he claims the 830 never "slept outside". Kinda prefer the 830 just because it's a bit smaller and thus easier to transport/store, but I gotta have a look at them first, hopefully in the next week or so. Ben

Not much difference in weight or physical size. If the 830 is that nice that is the one I would be after, just something about the7-830s that I like. You just need to find a nice 4-14 plow and you are good to go. The 830's are pretty darn tough for their size.

I would prefer the 930. That 6 cyl engine has a sound you just can't help but like but, either tractor is a good choice.

That would be a tough choice for me. That's why I have both a 931 and an 831C. I like the 830 because of the COM tranny, but the extra poneys of the 930 make shifting unnessary in most instances.
