ok so I went this morning and looked at the tractor..sheet metal pretty good grill screens decent..paint not to bad...looks like it has pwr steering(hyd lines run to in front of engine)...new rear tires..(13.6x36) adj wide front new rebuilt carb..tractor starter doesn't work..tried to pull and the clutch doesn't work to hold the transmission..i looked and the linkage goes to a hyd valve (same place the 2 hyd lines that run to in front of the engine are) so im assuming it has to be running to charge the hyd system for the clutch to operate?...I looked on youtube and didn't find any explanations on how this is supposed to work...also the lever on the right of steering wheel doesn't move..im assuming again it wont without hyd system working?...it has the eagle hitch which I don't know whether it works or not..and also the drivetrain so where would this be valued at?. is this just a chance taker that everything works without it running?...it does have a lever that says L and D in front of the shifter I assume that's direct and low...its gas by the way..any direction would be helpful...just don't know enough about the case-o-matic to be able to make an educated descision on it..thanks for any input

the hyd lines from the front of the engine are for the oil cooler for the case o matic unit. the case o matic will not engage the clutch for the torque converter without the engine running to provide oil pressure for the hyd clutch. I don't believe you can pull start a 611. However I have been able to start an 800 diesel with an engine decompressor if you have the clutch engaged and in direct range and enough battery to spin the demcopressed engine enough to bet oil pressure.

As stated, the hyd lines go to the oil cooler in bottom of radiator. If it has PS there will be a PS pump mpunted on the timeing housing front RH side of engine.
The 600B is a torque converter drive and needs engin rpm to run pump and lock up the converter. If you plan to go back, for another look, tell the seller to have a good battery in it and or starter, so it runs, if he want's to sell it.
It drives just like the auto tranny in your PU truck. Motor No run, Tractor No go, and you can't tow start it.

thanks for the info i really enjoy reading the things you put on here and are willing to share..i had thought that might be the deal and really would have rather it be a standard trans....so will probably pass on it cause i dont really need it but would like to drive one that works to see what its all about sometime

thanks for the info i didnt know about the cooler lines and didnt see a steering cyl so didnt really know..and i told him without knowing if everything worked that i didnt want to take a chance on it so probably wont mess with it..shame the tires werent 38's as i have a cpl tractors that need that size..thanks again for the answer

deene ,. the other posters are rite,.. and so many people are scAred and duped over a case-o-matic drive tranny ,.. when in reality,,.they have far fewer quirx and quagmires than modern automatic fliud drives being sold today, dry clutches are probably 2 /3rds of the market of new tractors ,. the rest are rediculously complicated automatic fluid drives, when they fail, it costs more to repair than the tractor is worth on the market ,,half the time the tractor goes to a boneyard to be parted out and scrapped ., As opposed to the simple c-o-m drives they can be pull started easily, I learned this as a 14 yr old kid after my sister droped me off at a field and never looked back to see if I got underway with the 800 case diesel we left there overnite ,.a weak batt, ery and a 40 degree temps were stacked against the 800 starting ,. since I had parked on a slope I unhooked the disc ,.got the 800 roling the motor over with the decompressor on the valves . put it in 6th gear while cranking and rolling down hill,,while spinning the starter, I had the c-o-m lever locked in direct lock up drive , a I felt the tranny create drag I flipped the decompressor valve lever to activate the valves and the 800 roared to life,. aint no reason the little 411b and 611b could be started the same way ,,. and I beg for anyone to disagree and insist that this method does harm ,, because I KNOW IT WORX , AND IT DONT HURT NUTHIN
