The grass just keeps growing around here and needs mowing at least weekly. To much of a PIA to keep unhooking splitter and attaching mower and uncoupling the loader off the Kubota to mow the lawns.
Hooked the splitter to the 430 turbo diesel today. Had to do some digging to find the lateral stablizers for the floppsy DOM hitch arms. Found one had to make the other.
The 431td has sat in the back shead for well over a year. I turned on the fuel at the tank as the throttle shaft on the Rosa Master pump leaks, and it started in an instant. WOW. Guess it felt neglected!!!
I bought this tractor back in 2001 as a non runner, ( antifreeze in pan) and the bat was in it then, Guess I better knock on wood.
I tore it down and found new sleeves and pistons, bearing etc., in it plus new pressure plate and clutch.
I prersume it was a vo ag., project that went south. I found that the timeing gear cover gasket was out of place and didn't seal the coolant ports off.
I cut an opening in the exaust manifold and welded an adapter port to it to mount the Turbo off a JD 850 compact, and fabed up the exaust porting to exit through the original hood outlet.
It will start out on level ground in 12th gear and spools up to 2500rpm real quick.
Rear wheels and tires are off a 660 combine, (14.9x 26). I also utilized the dry air cleaner from the combine to improve intake air flow.
It's a fun tractor to drive, top speed about 32mph, but I need to address a RH brake that now likes to lock up from setting, and not being driven.
hopefully that problem will cure it'self with some use.
