The original subject was "Case 430440 Leaking brake shaft seal".

So, I also am working on a 1966 440H with leaking brake seals..

I have pried off/wiggled/jiggled the brake plate, but it only comes out about 1" so far.

I guess this is not the way to replace the seal. It looks like I need a puller/slide hammer to get the old seal out I see there's a simple way to replace the lip seal that doesn't require removal of the brake plate and seal housing...

If I want to remove the big brake plates to replace the o-rings and the brake shaft seal, what is the preferred method? I worked for a Case dealer back in the day, but didn't remember this particular detail.

have you tried LUCAS HUB SEALER ? I always try the mechanic in a botlee before resorting to wrench pulling ../

We're going through the machine pretty thoroughly, so new parts are the order of the day.

Looks like a slide hammer/seal puller is the trick.
