Tractor driveline locked up, clutch bad. I pulled the brakes and they are not the issue. I then discovered the 4 speed tranny shift lever is stuck all the way forward, but I'm unable to pull the top cover off...thought it was the dowel pin somehow hanging up, but it comes up 1/4" and then won't come up further, even with strong prybar action.
When I rock the tractor, the brake splines rotate, so it's not an issue in final drive. The owner thinks that he did shift it when he got it, but the locked issue remains, and the shift cover issue has got me stopped.
Is there a reason the tranny cover won't come off? Any hints on how to resolve? I suspect the forks are binding somehow, and it maybe stuck in 2 gears.
I'll access a manual, as I'm sure this "bone" will need more care.
