Testing 930 oil pump

Is there a procedure to test the oil pump on a 401? I've got it out of the engine and primed some diesel into with the pickup down in a bucket, spin the hell out of it and nothing. If I spin it backwards I get a few bubbles in the bucket. Shouldn't I be able to get it to move some liquid by hand, or will that not work?

(quoted from post at 07:32:53 08/30/16) The 930's used 2 different oil pumps, and they were both meant to pump oil, not diesel.

Well I'm not sure which model this is, but it doesn't pump a damn thing, including oil.

On the plus side, it takes a lot less space in shop now.

The older style drove off the camshaft,& the late style drove off the front crank gear. At this point, I would assume a disassembly is in order.

That will be the next step yep. It is looking like oil pump failure to be the cause of the spun main bearing though. Have to get a heavier engine stand, then will get that bolted up and disassembled to get the crank repaired.
