Case 2290 power shift acting up, does not do it all the time but with range selector in neutral and power shift in reverse, when you let clutch out tractor will die. also when putting clutch in while coming to stop it will slam to stop as if brakes are being applied. does seem to be jumpy when driving. and while reversing it does seem to labor engine, very little clutch free play when going forward, and normal amount going back, Did pressure check at c1-c4 test ports on all have 190 psi when they are supposed to be pressurized. No clutch getting pressure when it should not be. Possible issue with clutch plates dragging? does seem to act up more in morning when its cold. any help is appreciated.

It sure sounds like C-3 is dragging. Do a pressure check and there should only be pressure to C-3 when the PS is shifted to 2cd or 3rd. Could be a sticking pilot spool
and or if it has been operated with the sticking pilot the clutch pack can be warped. Without testing that is my guess, Rod.

yes what rod says,c-3 seems to be the valve I clean the most, remove the plug at bottom, let the oil drain(seems to clean port) polish lightly, will generally cure the problem,do not continue to use until fixed.

I did do the pressure checks, and the correct clutches have pressure when there are supposed to and no others are pressurized when they are not supposed to be. this leads me to believe that its not a stuck spool, have yet to get back to do some more checking. guy also stated that one time he had went to shift to second gear in power shift and tractor would not move but worked fine in 1st and this only occurred once to my knowledge.
Thanks for you help
