VAC-14 Eagle Hitch...Possessed?

Now that I have operated my VAC for quite a few hours I am a little confused on its eagle hitch behavior. Sometimes while driving the tractor the hitch control lever will come forward on its own, allowing hitch to drop, (it will only drop if the lever comes forward). But the more common occurrence is for the hitch to drop randomly when tractor is not running. At times the control lever will move forward and sometimes not when hitch slowly drops. Incidentally, lift handle is a little floppy, (I'd like to tighten that up). Sometimes hitch will stay up for days. Any idea what's going on?

Sorry for the wordy description.

Thank you,
Glenn F.

It has never come forward the full distance while operating. Only an inch or so. Thus it probably won't randomly drop implements.

I would make sure it is full of oil and put an implement on it to see how it acts. It may have air in the system that needs worked out. an implement will help this. Below is a link to Mike Johnsons web site with tons of info on the VA series. Nick

You will probably end up taking it apart to see what the issues are. If the lever is not moving the full stroke there may be something loose or broken inside. Nick

The release valve lash may non-existent. A sloppy lever doesn't take much movement for the actuating lever to close the lash and bump the 2 stage release valve into slow drop.

I was thinking of my VA which the handle can move to freely and will move when I am using it sometimes,, I cannot think if there was a "brake" of some kind or a way to adjust it tighter
